I just finished off another commission paint job of the brand new Chaos Space Marine Helbrute kit and have to say this is a great kit!

This new kit was a lot of fun to build and paint. Like most dreadnought kits other than the Contemptor Dreadnought from Forge World, the legs end up being rather static, but there’s not much you can do to change that; their construction and design is actually remarkable similar to that of the Imperial Knight, but it can’t be posed as easily the Knight. I may try posing the legs for this model the next time I build one of these because I certainly intend to add a few to my collection–the new formations in the Helbrute dataslate are pretty awesome (3 deep striking Helbrutes that show up at the same time AND have It Will Not Die? Yes please!)

The kit went together very easily and it seems like it wouldn’t be too difficult to magnetize most of the weapons. I plan on magnetizing the weapons when I get around to building up some more of these delightful monstrosities. I really enjoy the aesthetics of this kit, it draws on the roots of the Helbrutes being analogous to Space Marine Dreadnoughts while still looking ver tainted and warped by Chaos. Time to plan how to convert one of these with some Sonic weapon goodness!

  1. I’ve been a fan of Helbrutes since the Dark Vengeance set. It’s great to see someone actually taking time to assemble and paint the new kit!

Nice work on that Helbrute. Will be very interested to see how you go about adding sonic weaponry as this is an idea I’ve toyed with a little myself.

I’ve scratch built some sonic weapons and blastmasters for my noise marines to add some variety to them and I have the Forge World sonic dread (I’ve got pics of that in one of the other posts) so I have some ideas. I did a conversion with the Dark Vengeance Helbrute where I put a dirgecaster from the CSM vehicle sprue as it’s face and used guitar strings to make the hand into a power flail.
