GusladoWhereYourWorldEndsI am very pleased to present you with my entry for Round 2 of Wyrd Miniature’s Iron Painter contest. The theme for this round is “The End of the World, As We Know It” and I have titled my entry “Where Your World Ends, My World Begins.”

For my entry I customized and painted The Dreamer Avatar of Imagination. I’ve previously mentioned that in Malifaux, Avatars are basically the hulked out, super-powered version of a Master when they unlock secret magics previously unknown to them; in his Avatar form, The Dreamer has utter control over the world of dreams and nightmares; where your world ends, his begins! The caption I gave this piece was, “The waking world is ours, but the world of dreams and nightmares is the domain of Nytmare and the Dreamer.”

I had a lot of fun putting together this piece. I really enjoyed pushing myself with some new techniques, such as the object source lighting from the portal, adding the strands of spittle to the Insidious Madness and Chompy’s mouths, and giving the eyeball a hard acrylic cornea.

I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed building and painting it.

Here are a couple of other looks at this model.

I am quite proud of how this piece turned out. Both of my opponents have entered solid pieces this round so I don’t get through this round the easy way, but I feel like my piece can hold it’s own against theirs; at this point there is nthing more I can do but wait for the judges to make their rulings.

The results of this round are scheduled to be posted on Thursday, May 14, so check back here on that day to see whether or not I defeat my foes and advance to the next round. Even if I fail to advance I will continue to make pieces for each round and enter them into the “eliminated” gallery as this painting contest isn’t just about winning, it’s about inspiring painters to push themselves and I intend to keep going with this quest until the very end. The theme for the third round is scheduled to be announced on Friday, May 15.

I hope you all like my entry, I really did have a great time painting it. Check back soon fo more from the Iron Painter contest!
