2016IPEp10

I have been rather quiet here for about a week now due to unforeseen circumstances–my house unexpectedly turned into river-property and then a private island. Don’t worry, we’re ok and damage was minimal, but it still means that I’ve been dealing with clean-up and contractors instead of getting any painting done. This also means that I didn’t update you all with the results of Round 2 of Iron Painter. Good news! I won my match-up and continue on as a competitor in the Bronze tier! Yesterday the Round 3 theme and match-ups were announced. The theme is: Wyrd Science!

So now that we know the theme, it’s time for to know who I’m competing against: my opponent for Round 3 is SnickerSnackStudios. You can see her first round entry here and her second round entry here. This is going to be a close match-up–I received a higher score first round, she received a high score second round. It is definitely time to bring my A-game!

Once I learned what the theme for this round is, I started brainstorming what I should do for my entry. Malifaux is full of all kinds of crazy science and magic, so Wyrd Science is a great theme that can have all sorts of cool interpretations. I remembered that I had the Avatar version of Ramos sitting in my hobby room waiting to be built and I thought that this is just the occasion to make this crazy steampunk scientist shine. I have a plan and now it’s just time to execute it. This is what I was able to throw together so far:

Back in highschool, I built and actual Tesla coil with friends for a physics project, it looks like that experience will finally (sort of) come in handy! I’ve done some research into how things look when lit by the light of a Tesla coil, so I am hoping I can capture that effect. Check back soon for more updates!
