I do a Podcast now!

Posted: February 5, 2018 in Malifaux

I’ve mentioned it briefly before, but it never hurts to mention it again. For the past couple of months I’ve been hosting and producing a Malifaux podcast; in this podcast we talk tactics, hobby, and news for the fantastic tabletop game Malifaux. I’m really happy with how the podcast has been so far and the direction it’s been heading.
You should check it out!

Even though I’m a bit ahead of the curve on my 2018 hobby goal of painting 1 model per week, I am still pushing myself to keep up the pace. Over the last week, I finally got around to finishing off Barbaros!

For those of you who don’t know, a few months ago I began hosting a bi-weekly Malifaux podcast with the other Admins from the A Wyrd Place Facebook group. In our first episode of the New Year, we all made some hobby resolutions for 2018 to try to get us all painting more; in this episode I committed to the Model Per Week Challenge in which I would complete 1 model per week for the entirety of 2018 so that at the end I would have painted at least 52 models. Part of the conditions of this challenge is that these models are to be for my own use on the table and that they can’t include miniatures painted for competitions or commissions. Along with the doing the Model Per Week Challenge I’m aiming to have completed at least 365 soulstones worth of models by years’ end. As I haven’t been posting here as often as I used to, I figure this is also a good time to get back to posting on a regular basis. (more…)

In 2017 a crack Malifaux unit was sent to my painting table by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security figure case to the Malifaux underground. Today, still wanted by the Guild, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire: The Freikorps.

WiP Wed 2/15

Greetings fellow hobbyists! It’s Work in Progress Wednesday, so it’s time to share what’s been on your hobby table this week!

I’ve been working on clearing some commission projects off of my hobby desk. I did some work on the final detailing and assembly on Sigismund and got started on the Von Schill crew you see above.

While it’s not specifically WiP from this week I have some super exciting news to share with you all. This weekend I’ll be heading up to Dallas to take a 2-day airbrush class with the wonderful Caleb and Kat from CK Studios! It’s going to be awesome to see some of my scattered hobby friends again and I’m really looking forward to learning a lot in this class. I’ll definitely have some pictures from that to share with you after this weekend.

What have you been working on?

Wednesday is upon us, which means it’s time for all good hobbyists to share what’s been on their hobby table this week–it’s Work in Progress Wednesday!!!

This week I finally got started on final assembly and touch-ups on the Sigismund commission I’ve been doing for a friend. I also primed up a Von Schill crew I’m painting on commission for another friend. Last and certainly not least, I sculpted a poncho to go on a friend’s Peacekeeper; my friend usually runs Pedro (as the Peacekeeper is known) with his Perdita crew and tends to use Abuela to marry him into the family, hence why he needed the poncho and sombrero.

Before next week I will hopefully have a few more models finished up to share with you all, so keep your eyes peeled for those!

What have you been working on?

Once again it’s Wednesday and that means it’s Work in Progress Wednesday!!!

This week I put paint to miniatures for the first time in far too long. As I want to get my painting mojo running at full tilt before I start in on things I care about, I started in on some Wind Gamin as I never expect those to be on the table for too long; hopefully I’ll have them finished before the week is over. I also started in on the marble bases for Sandeep and Banasuva. I’ve only taken the first step on them so far so there’s still a ways to go before the marble effect is finished, but I can see where I’m going with it now.

Now that I’m back into the swing of things hobbywise and have managed to post things here two weeks in a row, let’s hope that I can keep this going!

What have you been working on?

Hey All! It has been far too long since I have posted anything here; the holidays happened and life happened and before you I knew it, it had been over a month since my last post. Things have finally started to settle down around here, so here’s a quick look at what I’ve been working on for the last week:

With things settled down around here, I will be getting back into the swing of things hobbywise. As I now have a really nice video camera and a rig to film myself doing hobby work, I will also hopefully have a video hobby tutorial put together for you all really soon!

Austin Malifaux #4

Yesterday I drove up to Austin for a Malifaux tournament up in Austin; the tournament took place at the fantastic Dragon’s Lair and was run by the local henchman Robert. Robert is definitely doing something right up in Austin as not only was it a fantastic tournament, but it managed to pull in 19 participants!
