Judgement day has come and gone for Iron Painter 2015 round two and sadly it left me with my head upon the chopping block. Congratulations to my opponent paintminion for advancing to round three of this grueling competition.

But fear not, denizens of the internet! There is still honor yet to be won for those of us eliminated from this competition and I am far from out of iron to expend in this competition! While I may no long be in the running to be crowned the champion of this competition, I may still tread the lonely path of the ronin in quest of the title of Iron Painter. As I vowed at the beginning of this competition, I will still continue to create pieces for the remaining rounds that I might stand amongst the few to earn the title of Iron Painter!

The theme for round three is “Something Wicked This Way Comes,” so I suppose it is time to think a little Shakespearean to come up with an idea for my next piece.

Check back soon to see what wicked things my mind shakes loose…

To Episode 11: Toil and Trouble

GusladoWhereYourWorldEndsI am very pleased to present you with my entry for Round 2 of Wyrd Miniature’s Iron Painter contest. The theme for this round is “The End of the World, As We Know It” and I have titled my entry “Where Your World Ends, My World Begins.”

I’ve been working hard on finishing off my round two entry for Iron Painter 2015 (although I did take a break to go see the Avengers movie). It’s almost time for a lullaby to put my Iron Painter round two entry to bed, but before then I still have a little work left to do. Soon I shall unleash my world of nightmares upon paintminion and amazonwarlord… (more…)

There is less than a week left until entries for Round 2 of the Iron Painter contest are due. At this point last round I was much further along with my entry than I am now, but this round I decided that I needed to order a model I couldn’t find around here and on top of that I decided I needed to do custom sculpting and conversion on it to kick it up a notch for the Iron Painter. I suppose I did bring it up on myself…

After much deliberation as to what to paint for this round of the Iron Painter contest and then waiting for my model to arrive to my doorstep, the model I’ll be painting for the second round of the Iron Painter contest is finally here! The theme for this round is “The End of the World, As We Know It.” As I mentioned in my previous post it took a long time to decide on what to do for this theme, but I finally struck upon the concept that the world as we know it ends where the world of dreams begins and I knew just the model that would work for this…

The Dreamer, Avatar of Imagination!

After defeating my opponent in honorable combat to advance to the second round of the Iron Painter 2015 painting contest I and may others were forced to wait in quiet contemplation of what is to come. Late in the day on Friday our answer came to all who seek the glory of Iron Painter–round two is to be even more brutal than the last round with all matchups being a three-way showdown, a menage-au-trois of painting madness if you will. And what is to be the theme for this triumvirate of the brush? The End of the World, as we know it!!! (more…)

I am very pleased to present you with my entry for Round 1 of Wyrd Miniature’s Iron Painter contest. The theme for this round is “Fool’s Gold” and I have titled my entry “Beginner’s Guide to Piracy.” (more…)

The first leg of my epic journey is nearing its conclusion as the deadline for my entry approaches! With that date looming, I am pleased to announce that the figure for this entry is complete! (more…)

After seven pours (or was it eight?) and a bottle and a half of Secret Weapon Miniatures water effects, the base for my Iron Painter round one entry is finally complete! I knew it would take a lot of water effects, but I was surprised at how much it took. So many layers of water effects…  (more…)

It is begun!!! The first round theme and match-ups for Wyrd’s Iron Painter 2015 painting contest have been announced!  Iron Painter is a painting contest run by Wyrd Miniatures; this contest varies from most painting contests in that it has multiple rounds and each round there’s a theme and all of the entrants are paired off in head-to-head match-ups, the winner of each pair advancing to the next round and the last painter standing at the end of all rounds crowned the victor. Competitors are encouraged to complete entries for each round even if they have been eliminated and any painter who manages to complete an entry every single round received special recognition (and chances at prizes!). Full details on the competition are available on Wyrd’s website.

The theme for the first round of Iron Painter 2015 is “Fool’s Gold” and I am paired off with the mystery knight “TheGodeckan”; I do not know who this opponent is or what their painting skills are, but their forum avatar is of Cthulhu, so therefor they must be respected. I have begun work on my entry for this round and I thought you all might like to see what I am up to.  (more…)
