Not Too Banged Up

I am pleased to present you with my Round 1 entry for Wyrd’s Iron Painter 2016 painting competition! The theme for this round was “Pretty in Pink” and my piece is titled “Not Too Banged Up.” I am ridiculously happy with how this piece turned out. You can check out all the gallery of all of the entries for this round here on Wyrd’s forums. The results of the first round are scheduled to be announced this Friday, April 1st and the next round’s theme will be announced on Monday, April 4th. This means I have about a week to take it easy and work on other projects on my painting desk before it’s time to put bring the iron again. I hope you like this piece as much as I do!

To Episode 6: Time For A Check-Up

The deadline for my entry for the first round of Iron Painter 2016 is nearing; I can see light at the end of the alley and it’s looking pretty good…

In a painting competition it’s generally agreed that there needs to be some paint on the model, so I guess it’s about time that actually I put some paint on my round 1 Iron Painter entry seeing as we are a little more than a week into the competition… (more…)

Since the last time I updated you on my progress for my first round Iron Painter entry I’ve been working hard on the corner. Ok, the phrasing on that may be a little off, let me try again: I’ve been hitting the block with an undead hooker… So, not much better. perhaps it’s best to show you how I’ve been shaking it… (more…)

Yesterday at 7:15 AM the theme for the first round of Wyrd’s Iron Painter 2016 painting competition was announced, so once again my quest to be called Iron Painter has begun… (more…)

My quest resumes soon, who amongst you is brave enough to join me?

(And for those not familiar with it, here is a recap of my previous quest to be an Iron Painter)

To Episode 1: And So It Begins…

Who pulls the strings which control us all?

With this piece I complete my epic quest to earn the title of Iron Painter. When I began this quest just over three months ago I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I must say that participating in Iron Painter 2015 was one of the best hobby related decisions I have ever made; I ended up painting pieces which I would have never been inspired to paint without this competition and used it to challenge myself as a miniatures painter. The end result is five finished pieces which are some of the best work I have ever done. The next time Iron Painter comes around I will most certainly throw my hat in the ring again, but I could definitely use a little rest first…

The clock is ticking away and the due date is fast approaching for entries in the final round of the Iron Painter 2015 competition. It’s very nearly time for my space oddity to shoot to the stars!

Over the last few days I have been able to do a lot of work on my entry for the final round of Iron Painter 2015. I’ve even tried out some new techniques that ended up working out really well; you could even say I made a good progress, scientific progress… (more…)

It all comes down to this–the final round of the Iron Painter 2015 painting competition; the theme for this round is “Space Oddity.” Somehow I managed to come up with an idea for this theme that I really like within 24 hours of it being posted, but of course I couldn’t actually get started until I got my hands on all of the elements I need for this piece. Turns out that you can get your hands on most anything through Amazon, even hands…
